COMPETITION

Dancers must be registered with an active studio containing at least 10 participating dancers to qualify for overall cash awards. Soloists with multiple routines will only be allowed one placement within the Top Solo cash tiers.

General props are permitted; however, there are limitations as to how large the props can be. Please note that ceiling heights can vary in each venue. Email katie@nrgdanceproject.com if you have questions about big props. Be quick/efficient/have multiple people ready to help. No sharp bottoms that would scrape up the marley. Bring something to clean up your props, especially if throwing things. Limited backstage storage space so props must be cleared out each night (NO OVERNIGHT STORAGE) No dangerous props (i.e., swords, fire, sand etc.) or use of live animals. Dances will be disqualified if props take longer than 2 mins to set up.

Will open an hour before competition starts. No pictures or videos are allowed in the dressing rooms. Only females permitted in the girls dressing room and only males permitted in the boys dressing room (this includes teachers and parents) Please clean up after yourself and remove belongings immediately after you perform. Dressing rooms are for changing not rehearsing. One chaperone per dancer only! NO siblings, extra family, friends etc. Remember it is a shared space.

In high-volume cities, I may start competition blocks as early as 7:00 AM on Thursday or Friday. By registering, you agree to this scheduling possibility.

Competition and convention could sell out prior to the event’s cut off date! The majority of our events will sell out competition and it is recommended to complete the registration process as soon as possible. NRG may close competition at any point, even before the cut off date if capacity is reached.

All photos and videos will be sent to the studio director ONLY following the event. We will not distribute photos and videos to parents.  Photography and Videoing during competition are strictly prohibited. Advanced technology of video on cell phones, cameras, etc has forced us to prohibit all camera use during competition. This includes ALL still photography, with or without flash. This is to protect the rights of the choreographer as well as your children’s safety, and to make it possible for NRG to offer a professional photography and video service. Any violations can result in routine and/or studio being disqualified.

All critiques will be uploaded to your registration site by the Thursday following your event. All three judges are on one critique allowing for the most useful feedback.

Adjudication Breaks: Dancers will not go on stage for these awards and do not need to be present. Directors/Teachers will collect pins at the end of competition and awards on Saturday Night at registration. If you miss an adjudication announcement they will appear on the app underneath the competition schedule at the end of each day. Category Placement/Overalls: Dancers will go on stage for these awards. The category placement disc and Overall Cash awards will be handed to the dancers on stage. There will be one for Lil’Sparks/Minis and one for Junior/Teen/Seniors. The Lil’Spark/Minis will be earlier and the Junior/Teens/Seniors will be immediately following the last routine of competition.  You must be present at category placement/cash overalls to get your Award/Cash.  Nothing will be handed out after, so if you miss the awards you will not receive your award. If competition is running ahead awards will be running ahead as well. Make sure to follow the tracker on the app

No pictures or videos. This will be strictly enforced & studios will be warned once then disqualified NO EXCEPTIONS! All entrances and exits must happen in between routines and everyone needs to remain seated while the dancers are performing.  Dancers are allowed to sit on the floor but must push back close to the chairs and out of camera view.   Sparkly chairs are for VIP Directors & Teachers ONLY. Noise makers are not permitted. Remember this is a children's event so please stay kind and positive 😊

VIP Seating will be available for Studio Directors/Teachers at competition. Admission to NRG’s “The Show” competition is absolutely free! All registered attendees, as well as family and friends, are welcome to watch at no cost. Come and support your dancers!

All dancers competing must be registered for the NRG workshop in the city where they are competing. To be eligible for Overall CASH Awards dancers MUST be registered with a studio (a studio is considered 10 or more students). All registrations with less than TEN dancers registered for the NRG workshop will receive adjudication (Platinum,Gold, etc.) and Category Placement ( 1st place contemporary solo etc.)   *All overall placements and CASH Awards are reserved for studio registrations with 10 or more dancers*Dancers with more than one solo will only be allowed one placement in Top Solo Cash/Overall awards. No teacher may perform with students. Professional dancers may compete but are not eligible for cash awards, no matter what age – TBD by NRG Directors. Dancers may compete in more than one city, again NOTE: To be eligible for CASH Overall Awards dancers MUST be registered with a studio (a studio is considered 10 or more students) National Prodigies are only allowed to compete their solo at their home city where their studio is attending.

All entries must be registered and completed online by the registration cut-off date. Changes in entries following the 30 day mark will have the regular rate applied. No changes will be made to entries following the two week deadline. NO EXCEPTIONS. Failure to upload music 30 DAYS prior to comp will result in removal from competition!

ALL ENTRIES must upload competition music to the NRG server. This is MANDATORY! NO EXCEPTIONS. We will NOT accept any music onsite. Any Music Changes onsite will result in late fees.  IMPORTANT! Dances without music uploaded 30 DAYS  prior to the event will be removed from the competition and replaced by those on the waiting list. Any music changes/updates made on the server within 2 weeks of the event will not be accepted or seen by our sound department. Bring a downloaded copy of your music on either a Phone, Computer, or Hard Drive. You are responsible for back-ups. Failure to have back-up if needed may result in disqualification. NO REFUNDS will be given. (CDs and tapes will not be accepted) Any back-up needed due to technical difficulties will be airdropped to our show computer. Music is not saved from city to city. All music must be uploaded to the system every time.

Studios will be allowed unlimited entries! Please be advised once competition is sold out a waitlist will be created. Dancers may enter unlimited group routines however, only one solo per dancer with initial registration. If we still have room 30 days out additional solos will be accepted. Regional competition will be limited to time availability. Please get your entries in early! If quota is reached before the cut-off date, subsequent competition entries will not be accepted.

Solo Competition: May start as early as 7:00am on Friday in most cities. Utah cities may start as early as Wednesday. In sold out cities Thursday start is possible. You are agreeing to this possibility when registering. Group Routines: Every effort is made not to begin group routines until after 4:00PM on Friday (Thursday in Utah) but this is not always possible. If you have concerns please contact us BEFORE entering your routines.  There will be a tentative schedule and a final schedule sent to studio directors only. They will be able to request routines to be moved before the final schedule is sent. Once the final is sent out there will be no changes permitted. We will go in Competition order on-site and will not stop for costume changes once the schedule is set. Please make sure that dancers are not in back to back routines.

Download the NRG app to stay up to date on everything throughout the event. Any changes to competition, classes, rehearsals  will be reflected on the app. Please check the NRG app multiple times throughout the day while onsite.

Stage Dimensions are 40ft across X 32ft deep X 2ft high with 3 wings. Tap mics are all around/under the stage.

Routines containing more than three (3) gymnastic/acro passes must be entered in the OPEN category. ALL numbers deemed “wrong category” will be moved to the appropriate category at Judges request. Routines must be appropriate for family viewing. Point deductions or disqualification could result if judges deem a number inappropriate. Choreographers and all attendees automatically give permission to NRG to use all photos and videos for advertising and publicity. All entries are final and non-refundable. No exceptions.
